Within the last few years, I have been using LLMs every single day – especially within the last 2 years. Now that these tools have been rolled out for a good of time, many of the kinks have been resolved and new advancements are being implemented nearly every single day. With that being said, I am often asked by peers and friends/family which LLM I personally prefer, Gemini or ChatGPT?
My answer? Both.
For a long time, I found GPT to be much more advanced in terms of not only its capabilities and integrations, but mainly for the answers GPT would spit out when I gave it prompts compared to what Gemini would provide when I asked the same thing. However, as of late, this is no longer the case. With Gemini releasing Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash improvements, Deep Think mode, various media tools, improved memory, and integrations with other Google tools (calendar, Gmail, etc), I have found that both of these tools are incredible in their own right.
How I Use Both Gemini and ChatGPT
Today, I actively use both tools. My primary platform is still GPT, since I subscribe to the GPT Plus plan and benefit from the added capabilities that come with it. However, I frequently turn to Gemini for tasks where it excels—particularly those involving Google’s ecosystem.
Gemini’s seamless integration with Gmail and Google Calendar is one of its standout features. Whether I’m summarizing email threads or auto-scheduling events, the experience feels native and effortless.
How To Make The Most of Gemini AND GPT:
Use GPT (ChatGPT) for:
- Deep content generation (blogs, emails, code, summaries)
- File analysis (PDFs, spreadsheets, image interpretation)
- Building custom workflows using custom GPTs and OpenAI tools
- Creative tasks like branding, scripting, and design prompts
- Prototyping business tasks via the code interpreter
Use Gemini for:
- Real-time fact-checking and search via Google
- Automating tasks in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Calendar
- Interacting with YouTube content (summaries, Q&A)
- Reading and summarizing Google Drive documents
- Fast answers and productivity within Google Workspace
Summary
Use GPT when you need content creation, logic-based workflows, file analysis, or coding assistance.
Use Gemini when you are needing search-based accuracy, Google app/product support, or productivity inside the Google Workspace environment.
